Brian McKnight’s Touching Stage Moment with Youngest Son Captures Hearts Online

The industry veteran is a dad to seven, including two stepchildren, with his wife, Leilani McKnight.

Veteran R&B singer Brian McKnight was recently brought to tears after sharing a heartwarming moment with his youngest son.

The 55-year-old entertainer shared a touching Instagram Reel from his performance at Universal Orlando last month. During the show, he was joined on stage by his one-and-a-half-year-old son, Brian Kainoa Makoa Jr., whom he shares with his wife, Leilani Mendoza.

The toddler, dressed in a cute dark sweatsuit and blue headphones, was cradled in his father’s arms. He joined in the singing, clapped with the audience, and hugged his dad as McKnight hit a high note, bringing joy to the singer's eyes.

McKnight captioned the sweet moment, “BRIAN JR.’S DEBUT with DADDY at Universal Orlando at Hard Rock Live last Friday 06/28/2024.” He added, “Thank you God for always protecting and blessing us, keeping us safe in our own little world while taking Brian Jr. all over the world.”

Although the “Back at One” singer restricted comments on his post, where he received positive feedback, the touching moment was overshadowed on Twitter by critics who highlighted his ongoing family drama.

Last April, the Grammy-nominated artist faced backlash after he publicly referred to his Black children as “products of sin” and “evil.” Additionally, he legally changed his name to Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight Sr. to distinguish himself from his newborn son, even though he is already the senior to his oldest son, Brian McKnight Jr.
