I was living the life of a snow bunny this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, where I hosted a dinner in honor of actors Terrence Howard and Joy Bryant. Many performers look at indie films as a stepping stone, but not Joy and Terrence. Although they are both on high-rated network shows (Joy is featured on Parenthood, Terrence stars on Law & Order: L.A.), they continue to support and champion independent films.

The dinner party was presented by Moet & Chandon and the Blackhouse Foundation. Side note: Moet is the official champagne of the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, so I was feeling real fancy having them sponsor my event. The Blackhouse Foundation is dedicated to providing a platform for African-American filmmakers to tell their stories, and they also know how to throw a fabulous party.

While Sundance is the premiere film festival for independent film, it’s not known for its diversity. All of that changed this year! 50 Cent, Kerri Washington, John Salley, Don Cheadle, Janelle Monae, the Roots and even Lil Jon were in town. I ran into most of them at the gifting suites (you know we love free stuff).
