She’s only 10, but Willow Smith has already reached icon status—at least in the eyes of American designer Derek Lam.

The budding pop star’s playful use of neon colors, animal prints, chains and space-age designs, along with her catalog of funky Mohawk and braided hairstyles, scored her the accolade in Vogue’s annual “American Idols: Icons of Stateside Style” feature, in which the magazine asks a number of designers to name the most fashionable public figures.

Lam chose Willow and described her as "naturally talented, charismatic, unblemished optimism, with the whole wide world open to her possibilities and abilities.... I think she is the future-forward American icon."

Other celebrities recognized in the feature for their style status have included Michele Obama, Gisele Bundchen, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
