Here's Why James Brown's Death Is Being Investigated As A Possible Murder
James Brown, the indelible "Godfather of Soul" passed away on Christmas Day in 2006, reportedly from congestive heart failure and fluid in his lungs. However, allegedly dozens of people, close to the crooner— including his widow, manager and son-in-law— want “an autopsy, a criminal investigation, or both.” According to Thomas Lake of CNN, the doctor who signed Brown’s death certificate, Dr. Marvin Crawford “never believed” he died of natural causes. Also, the “I Got You” singer’s friend, Andre White has an eyebrow-raising “vial of blood” and Brown’s daughter, Deanna won’t admit if he’s in his tomb and his other daughter, Yamma denied an initial autopsy post-death. In an exclusive interview, Crawford stated, “He was a patient I would never have predicted would have coded. ... But he died that night, and I did raise that question: What went wrong in that room?"
The singer hated being questioned about his health and his drug abuse.
The month of his death, he was scheduled to kick off a new tour and record a duet with the "Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin. Unfortunately, his health declined and had "ailments including prostate cancer and diabetes." On December 23, 2006, things shifted drastically. Brown was attempted, discreetly, into Emory Crawford Long Hospital. The 73-year-old singer thought he had pneumonia, but instead had a mild heart attack and tested positive for cocaine.
He was given “oxygen, IV diuretics, and ACE inhibitors to relax his blood vessels and he improved fast,” Crawford stated. The next day, White had a conversation with Brown’s accountant, David Cannon for a sizable amount of money and then, ensured Brown would be looked after by his manager, Charles Bobbit. Around 1 a.m., Brown’s heart stopped and by the time, Crawford arrived back at Emory, it was too late.
Crawford felt Brown died of an accidental overdose...
A nurse, whose name is a mystery, pointed out an odd residue in his endotracheal tube and noticed a male stranger visiting Brown who wasn't apart of his typical entourage. The nurse also drew the vial of blood that White has been holding onto for twelve years. Talks within Brown's camp, after his death, became secretive and many remained hush about their theories.
CNN's extensive, three-part series on James Brown is utterly surprising to say the least. Part three is the lengthy, 15-question report on the mystery and odd nature about his death. Maybe now his family can get the answers to those lingering doubts.
