Mother of 6-Year-Old Kingston Frazier Collapsed Upon Hearing Her Son Was Murdered

Three teens allegedly stole Ebony Archie's car while the young boy slept in the back seat.

Three teenagers in Jackson, Mississippi, face capital murder charges for fatally shooting a 6-year-old boy while he slept in the back seat of a car they’d just stolen, reported the Clarion-Ledger.

While shopping in a Kroger grocery story, Ebony Archie left her son, Kingston Frazier, asleep in her Toyota Camry. Archie left the car running while she ran into the store after midnight on Thursday, law enforcement authorities said. In the short time she was gone, another car pulled up and a man got into the Camry and drove off with Kingston still asleep.

Around 2:30 a.m., Archie left the store and told a police officer her car had been stolen. Initially, the officer did not know there was a child in the back seat. However, once he learned Kingston was still in the vehicle, an Amber Alert was issued at 4:15 a.m.

When the alert was first made, family members pleaded for the suspects to return the boy.

“We’re just asking, regardless of who you are, what you are and where you are, if you could just return the child,” David Archie, Kingston's uncle, told the Clarion-Ledger. “Leave him somewhere, find a way to get him to a store, to a gas station, to a restaurant, Walmart, anywhere people are and just drop him off.”

A little over five hours later, authorities said they found an abandoned car on a dirt road in Gluckstadt, Mississippi. Authorities revealed they found Frazier dead from a gunshot wound in the back seat of the car.

  • "Our hearts go out to the families," Hinds County Sheriff's Department Major Pet Luke said at a press conference.

"Where's my son, man? I've been waiting nine hours to hear anything. I ain't heard s**t about my son all day," Kingston's father, who hadn’t heard the news yet, said. "Man, I know he ain't right. If something's wrong let me know right here."

After hearing about Kingston’s death, the father said, "My son's dead, man. They killed my son, man. They shot my son."

When Ebony Archie found out about Kingston’s death at the district attorney’s office, she collapsed on the ground.

    “I told y’all that s**t wasn’t right, I told y’all," she sobbed, according to the Clarion-Ledger.

On Thursday evening, police arrested Dwan Wakefield, D’Allen Washington and Byron McBride. All three of the suspects — each 17 — could face the death penalty if found guilty.

"The innocence and life of a six-year-old child have been taken by a horrific crime. It is time this senseless violence end[s]. We can all pray that God will assuage the pain of Kingston's family and friends, while we hold the guilty accountable."
