Watch: Philippines President Speaks Out Against Killing of Black People in America
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is no stranger to scrutiny. Since taking office in May, the new president has seen countless deaths occur under his administration.
National Police Chief Ronald Dela Rosa gave the Philippine Senate a figure that deduced that the nation experienced around 36 deaths per day, resulting to a total of 1,900 deaths. Of these, Dela Rosa said, police killed at least 712; the others were killed by vigilantes who have killed citizens they believe are involved in drug crimes.
President Duterte has even threated to the leave the United Nations after the organization urged the country to stop killing its people.
However, with all of that in mind, Duterte is still able to look at the police brutality problem in America and speak out against it.
In a recent press conference, Duterte spoke directly to the people of America saying, “Why are you Americans killing the Black people there, shooting them down when they are already on the ground.”
Wow, for someone who has ultimately been responsible for thousands of deaths in a seven-week time period to comment on the fatal force issue in the U.S. means that we have a big problem. But, then again, it’s not as if we were unaware of this issue in the first place.
