Colin Kaepernick's Lawyer Confirms Grievance Filed Against NFL Owners, Saying His 'Peaceful Protest Should Not Be Punished'
This past weekend, major news broke about Colin Kaepernick filing a grievance against NFL owners for collusion.
The free-agent quarterback's famed attorney, Mark Garagos, confirmed the grievance filing by issuing a statement to multiple media outlets, including the NFL Network.
"If the NFL (as well as all professional sports teams) is to remain a meritocracy, then principled and peaceful protest — which the owners themselves made great theater imitating weeks ago — should not be punished and athletes should not be denied employment based on partisan political provocation by the Executive Branch of our government," Geragos wrote in part of the statement, as reported by ESPN. "Such a precedent threatens all patriotic Americans and harkens back to our darkest days as a nation. Protecting all athletes from such collusive conduct is what compelled Mr. Kaepernick to file his grievance."
So, what do people think about Kaepernick's grievance filing and this subsequent statement about it issued by his lawyer? A resounding about damn time.
