Donald Trump And His Followers Slammed As ‘Neo-Nazis’ After He Openly Said ‘I’m A Nationalist’

"This is a big admission and should terrify us all."

Even before Donald Trump took office as president, many people believed his incendiary rhetoric and racial comments proved he's racist. During a recent rally in Texas, Trump came out to the world and finally said the words, "I'm a nationalist."

Trump started his rant by condemning the term "globalist."

“A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly not caring about our country so much. And, you know what? We can’t have that.”

He then went on to not only admit that while the word nationalist is a negative word, he isn't afraid to use it.

  • “You know, they have a word, it sort of became old-fashioned. It’s called a nationalist," Trump said

“And I say, ‘Really? We’re not supposed to use that word,’” Trump continued. “You know what I am? I’m a nationalist. OK? I’m a nationalist.”

The word nationalist has been co-opted by the “alt-right," a group which has been accused of hiding white supremacy under the mask of nationalism.

  • At first, many said they were not surprised by Trump's admission, as he as sympathized with white nationalists in the past

  • Trump and his supporters were slammed as "neo-nazis" trying to normalize nationalism
