Pharrell is having an active year. Not only has he teamed up with Snoop Dogg and delivered the excellent BUSH, he’s also worked with new faces like Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, the Creator on their latest albums respectfully. In a new interview with Montreality, Skateboard P talked briefly about creating "Alright" off K. Dot’s To Pimp a Butterfly, A$AP Yams’s legacy and more.

“One of my assistants really likes trap music. I wanted to do something that felt like it was in that vein," he said during Mawazine Festival's press conference in Morocco. "You know, a little bit more colorful and add roads and instruments that are not usually used in that style of music. Try to bring something a bit more mystical. I kind of had my A Tribe Called Quest hat on that day.” 

Pharrell also spoke about A$AP Yams and the lasting influence he has on the A$AP Mob. Even after his untimely passing, Pharrell believes Rocky will be motivated to grind harder. “No one wants to lose anyone. His spirit is still with them and I just seen Rocky the other day and Rocky is in good spirits. I mean its super heavy when you lose a friend. Somebody that was with you in the very beginning in the genesis of those dreams, but I’m sure Yams is super proud of everything that was happening.”
Pharrell is referring to the positive reviews of Rocky's A.L.L.A., which features cuts like "LSD," "Electric Body" and "M'$."

As for "Alright," K. Dot recently shot a video for the song in the Bay Area that's directed by Colin Tilley. Who knows if Pharrell will make a cameo, but we're crossing our fingers.
