Box Office: Furious 7 Crosses $1 Billion Mark
Furious 7 can't be stopped. The latest installment of the action-packed franchise is its highest grossing to date, crossing the $1 billion mark in ticket sales this week.
Coming in second place was Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, starring Kevin James in the title role. The sequel to the 2009 sleeper hit debuted to a healthy $24 million.
Third place goes to the new thriller Unfriended, about the dangers of social media, which grossed $16 million.
Rounding out the top five were the animated film Home, voiced by Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Jim Parsons, and The Longest Ride, starring Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood, which brought in $10.3 million and $6.8 million, respectively.
This week, Friday rolls back into theaters for a one-day engagement on April 20 to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary, and Furious 7's only competition for the weekend box office will be Blake Lively in The Age of Adaline and Russell Crowe's directorial debut, The Water Diviner.
