Obama to Clint Eastwood: "This Seat's Taken"
Hey, Clint Eastwood, President Obama has a message for you: "This seat's taken."
In a tweet posted on his @barackobama account, the president used three simple words and a photo of him sitting in his president's chair to respond to the director's rambling "conversation" with an empty chair at the Republican National Convention Thursday night.
Eastwood used the chair to criticize the president. There he was, one of the greatest directors of our generation, with his hair slightly askew, "talking" to a chair!
"How do you handle the promises you've made? What do you say?" Eastwood "asked" Obama. "I know even some of the people in your party were disappointed you didn't close [Guantanamo prison]."
The scene was so bizarre that the message was ultimately lost.
"Clint, my hero, is coming across as sad and pathetic. He didn't need to do this to himself. It's unworthy of him," film critic Roger Ebert tweeted.
