Keke Palmer in the MCU: Five Roles Ready for Her Unique Flair
The idea of Keke Palmer being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe dates back to 2022, but the rumors have recently resurfaced. As anyone who follows comic book films (especially X-Men and the MCU) can attest, fans are very passionate about casting. They are often dead serious about who should play their favorite characters. But some of us are here to have fun. Keke has always been a joy, so we're keeping it light by pitching five potential roles she can approach with her panache.
Joanna Cargill / Frenzy
Joanna Cargill is a mutant merc and member of the 'Alliance of Evil' under Apocalypse. Her skin is as tough as steel, giving her high resistance against conventional physical damage and extreme temperatures. This one is a long shot because Frenzy is more of a serious badass, but a great opportunity for Palmer to step outside of what she's known for. She can use Angela Bassett as inspiration.
Monet St. Croix / M
is
With her superhuman strength, diverse skill set, and overbearing confidence, this French Algerian mutant has been deemed "perfect". Not only that, M is one of Marvel's earliest Muslim superheroes. In Generation X, she plays somewhat of a Regina George type, which Palmer can mine using her comedic talents. M is also very glamorous and loves to put on a good fit in the middle of combat.
Val Cooper
Another character that can be mined for comedy is Valerie, a human who works for the Office of National Emergency as the liaison for mutant affairs and can be deadpan. We would love to see Palmer's human reactions to all the mutant chaos surrounding her.
Ororo Munroe / Storm
Halle Berry may never be able to live down that line about a toad struck by lightning (or that accent) in her turn as Storm, but that still hasn't stopped Storm from being a fan-favorite. We've always felt that movies haven't captured the characters' power and presence, but Keke has been a dynamo since a very young age. Could she take on Storm? We'd even settle for a drizzle just to get her onscreen.
Rogue
Everyone has their favorite version of Rogue, from the more interactive, tortured version in the first X-Men movie to the wisecracking, down-home quipster of the original animated series. We'll take the latter's energy, and we're praying Rogue can tell us what the gag is.
If the rumors are true, what character would you like Palmer to portray in the MCU?
