‘A Threat to Civil Rights' – Now That KKK Endorsed Jeff Sessions Has Been Confirmed as US Attorney General Many Are Fearing the Worst
On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed nominee Jeff Sessions to be the next attorney general, in a surprising 52-47 vote. Although the Alabama senator landed the new title, he was met with heavy opposition for Democratic senators, according to NPR.
Sessions received a vote from every Republican in Senate and Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Sessions himself voted "present" on his own nomination.
Throughout Sessions’s confirmations hearings, past allegations of racism were often brought up by questioning Democrats. In the 1980s, Sessions attempted to be a federal judge under Ronald Reagan; however, he was seen to be too racist or bigoted to hold the position.
During his confirmation hearing, he refuted any claims of racism and said that many of his comments were used out of context.
"I did not harbor the kind of animosities and race-based discrimination ideas I was accused of. I did not," Sessions told the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Based on Jeff Sessions's past, most fear this is a replaying of a very racist history
However, it is important to remember that we must continue to fight any unjust actions taken by Sessions or the entire Trump administration
