Frank Ocean's 'Blonde' Is Expected to Have a Monster First Week
Frank Ocean’s accomplished a lot of things but he’s never had a #1 album.
Well, that’s about to change. According to Billboard, Blonde is slated to hit the top spot of their charts. Industry forecasters are predicting big things for the singer’s sophomore LP as they’re predicting it to do upward of 225,000 to 250,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending August 25.
The news will be officially released on August 28. The Billboard 200 tracks album sales through multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Blonde was made available for online consumption exclusively though Apple Music.
The projected numbers for Blonde are set to smash what Ocean’s last album, Channel Orange, did. It sold just 131,000 copies in its first week on the charts. Unlike Blonde, it was primarily measured through digital and physical album sales, which could have something to do with the difference in the initial numbers.
Guess everyone felt the wait was all worth it. Check out Billboard’s report here.
