Michael B. Jordan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Come Together For ‘I Helped Destroy People’

The Amazon project is an adaptation of a New York Times article written by Janet Reitman.

A new Yahya Abdul-Mateen II project is currently in the works.

The Watchmen star is tapped to play the lead in the new Amazon Studio film I Helped Destroy People. Produced by Michael B. Jordan, along with Abdul-Mateen II, the movie is based on The New York Times article of the same name, published in 2021 by Janet Reitman. The piece followed Terry Albury, an FBI agent who Abdul-Mateen II will play in the project, who “was tasked with infiltrating Muslim communities post-9/11 as the only Black agent at his bureau,” according to Deadline.

After growing frustrated with the War on Terror and the actions of his colleagues, Albury would publicly disclose classified documents to blow the whistle on the operation, eventually landing him in prison.

Hand of God scribe Ben Watkins will write the script while Jordan will produce alongside Elizabeth Raposo through his production company Outlier Society and Abdul-Mateen II’s House Eleven10.
