Issa Rae Releases The Misadventures of the Awkward Black Girl Book
Issa Rae is bringing the Awkward Black Girl to bookshelves and tablets everywhere. The Web sensation will release a book version of her Misadventures of the Awkward Black Girl series, which has amassed 180,000 subscribers and over 20 million views.
Rae will participate in a discussion about the collection of essays with Baratunde Thurston, author of How to Be Black, at Powerhouse Books in New York City on February 16.
Meanwhile, the comedy prodigy will team up with The Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore for an HBO pilot called Insecure, which will address the "awkward experiences and difficulties with modern-day African-American life," according to Variety.
TEN THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LARRY WILMORE
Wilmore, of course, is the toast of late night with his new series, The Nightly Show, which took over Stephen Colbert's old time slot on Comedy Central. He is also an executive producer on Black-ish.
We look forward to seeing what these two come up with together!
