The-Dream Leaves Def Jam

Producer announces his split from the legendary label via Instagram.

The-Dream put up a public exit notice today, complete with an IG video of some peacefully crashing ocean waves. The two-time BET Award and four-time Grammy-winning producer has left Def Jam Recordings, his label home since 2007.

"I will miss this logo," he posted, alongside a pic of the iconic artwork. "It all started here! Love Everything that I achieved there, EXODUS THE-DREAM #exodusthedream."

There's been no other movement on the biblical hashtag since, but The-Dream did continue to post just a bit of his history with the legendary label, including a photo of him and Rihanna with the caption, "Started with Umbrella...... Since then it's been reigning forever."

He then captioned off each of his albums produced while there, making note that "the shareholders" changed the cover art for his 2012 release, Terius Nash: 1977 (which he initially released online for free out of frustration with the label), and marking the photo of his last album, 2013's IV Play, with "Freedom!"

"Let the New Tides bring The Things not yet seen!" he concluded. "There's more where those came from! We have only heard what I've brought to shore the things that lay in the deep want lye [sic] there for much longer."

In addition to being housed by the label, The-Dream was also appointed Executive Vice President of A&R in 2012. While there, he's worked with countless household names, including Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and the aforementioned Bad Gal.

No word yet on what he plans to do after the beach.
