Look: #LoveForGabbyUSA Is Drowning Out Gabrielle Douglas's Haters

Here's how Leslie Jones's call for action spawned the hashtag.

It has been a rough Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for Gabrielle Douglas.

The star gymnast was part of USA's Final Five team, which won the gold medal in the team final competition last week.

But Douglas emotionally admitted to the media over the weekend that she tries to stay off the internet because of haters bashing everything from her hair to her not placing her hand over her heart during the national anthem of the Final Five's gold medal ceremony. Those online trolls even coined the nickname "Crabby Gabby," insinuating that she wasn't showing her teammates enough support.

Well, Leslie Jones to the rescue.

The Ghostbusters star, who isn't a stranger to online bullying herself, took to her Twitter account Sunday, urging her followers and beyond to use the hashtag #Love4GabbyUSA to drown out the hate with love.

Gabby was instantly touched.

And Jones's call for action worked, as the love for Gabby has seemingly crushed her cyber haters, with fans and celebrities helping to make the hashtag into a trending topic by Monday morning.

Love always overpowers hate.
