Steve Harvey Sparks Twitter Debate Over His Ruling On A Couple’s Breakup Drama On ‘Judge Steve Harvey’
If you didn’t know, comedian, talk show host and personality, Steve Harvey has a new show called Judge Steve Harvey in which he rules on the conflicts of regular folks. It’s taken no time for the longtime Family Feud frontman to cause a stir.
Viewers have been sharing their opinions on Harvey's latest ruling in a case that involves a woman, Carolina Malagasy, who was sued for $3,400 by her boyfriend, Brian Lupi, for back rent. Malagasy claims she had been transitioning between jobs at the time and was worried about being able to save money.
In the episode, Harvey sympathizes with Malagasy’s circumstance having had similar experiences with homelessness and lack of funds himself by announcing that the court would not only be paying Malagasy debt to Lupi, but awarding her an extra $5,000 to get her life in order and, possibly, leave Lupi, who she was still with at the time.
Twitter took no time dissecting this one, with some siding with Steve Harvey while others sharing little to no sympathy for Malagasy whatsoever.
The hour long unscripted comedy series premiered on ABC Jan. 4. and while the Original Kings of Comedy legend doesn’t have a law degree, case rulings are based “on his own life experiences and some good old common sense,” according to the show’s description.
