Malika Andrews, host of ESPN’s NBA Today is receiving backlash for her accused lack of coverage of Oklahoma City forward Josh Giddey’s alleged encounter with an underage girl and Dez Bryant is one of her biggest critics.

According to Daily Mail, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver said that Andrews has deliberately pointed out any negativity from Black athletes but found it interesting that the story of Giddey, who is White, did not garner as much attention from the reporter.

Bryant took to X (formerly Twitter) to bitterly share his thoughts on Andrews's coverage of Giddey’s allegations.

In October, Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller was charged with a wrongful death lawsuit by the family of Jamea Harris who died at a shooting that took place near the University of Alabama campus in January.  Although Miller did not face charges for  Harris,’ death, law officials claim that Darius Miles asked Miller to bring the gun that was used in the killing to the location.

After Bryant was informed that Andrews addressed the situation on the air on Monday, he said that she only mentioned the allegations because of the blowback on social media.

Others have also pointed out what they perceive as a lack of coverage of the Giddey allegations by Andrews, insinuating that she has a bias. However, people responding said she was just doing her job in each case.

But Andrews ESPN colleague Stephen A. Smith, who anchors the network’s flagship show First Take defended Andrews, saying that the accusation and criticism was unfair. On “Podcast P with Paul George,” Smith pushed back saying Andrews did her job when questioning Miller."She’s getting crucified leading into the Draft because she's asking Brandon Miller a question or bringing up somebody's past," said Smith. "She had an obligation to ask those questions. She did her job. If she doesn't do her job, she's off the air.''
