Over two decades ago, The Disney original, animated series The Proud Family premiered. The show has now been revived and isn’t having any issues with celebrities reaching out to be casted.

According to Insider, the show’s creators Bruce W Smith and Ralph Farquhar say Saweetie reached out to be casted in the show.

Saweetie reached out to us via the hood. There's hood reps as well who will contact me and say, 'Hey man, this is Saweetie's people.' They said, 'Call if you wanna her to be on the show?'"

Smith also said Cardi B and reps for Tyga reached out as well.

"Remember when Cardi B called us?" Smith said during an interview with both creators. "We couldn't work it in her schedule.

The show now revived as The Proud Family: Louder And Louder, is certainly not having any casting issues. In fact, they appear to be writing the episodes quicker than they can cast the characters.

"We had so much real estate, we're writing episodes faster than we can cast them sometimes," Smith said. "There's one really big name and that person is still in play because it rolls into our next batch. When we as a people hear about something like this being made, they will reach out to you. So that was a good thing. We had choices."

The original voices will be in the series, as well as some new ones. Kyla Pratt will be returning to voice 14-year-old Penny Proud. Tiffany Haddish, Lil Nas X, and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles are just a handful of the additions.

The animated series is available to stream on Disney+, with new episodes every Wednesday.
