Astroworld Tragedy: Travis Scott Speaks Out In Interview

“It’s been a lot of thoughts, a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving,” he shared.

Travis Scott is speaking out in his first public interview since the Astroworld Music Festival that tragically left 10 people dead on Nov. 5.

Sitting down with Charlamagne Tha God, the Houston rapper described the aftermath of the crowd surge as an “emotional roller coaster.” Scott shared that he was unaware about the deaths that occurred that evening until moments before a press conference that was held by the local police department.

“It gets so hard because, you know, I always feel connected with my fans. I went through something and I feel like fans went through something and people’s parents went through something. And it really hurts. It hurts the community, it hurts the city,” he said.

Adding, “It’s been a lot of thoughts, a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving. Just trying to wrap my head around it. I really just want to be there. Wish you could just hold everyone, talk to them, and have conversations.”

When asked if he feels if he should take any responsibility over the festival, the 30-year-old admits that he does.

"I have a responsibility to figure out what happened here. I have a responsibility to figure out the solution," he said. "Hopefully this takes a first step for us as artists, having more insight about what’s going on."

The family of the youngest victim in Travis Scott’s Astroworld tragedy, 9-year-old Ezra Blount, has refused the rapper's offer to cover their funeral expenses.

Nine other concertgoers have died from injuries sustained at Astroworld, including Jacob Jurinek, 21; John Hilgert, 14; Brianna Rodriguez, 16; Franco Patiño, 21; Axel Acosta, 21; Rudy Peña, 23; Madison Dubiski, 23; Danish Baig, 27; and Bharti Shahani, 22.
