DMX Tweeted That He Was Looking for 'Trap Beats,' and the Internet Went In
Earlier this year, Swizz Beats first shared the exciting news that none other than DMX is preparing to record his first studio album in over a decade.
Months later, it now appears that the veteran emcee is making nice on that promise. In true 2017 fashion, DMX turned to the internet for assistance, but considering the nature of his request, he didn't find the feedback he was necessarily looking for.
In a now-deleted tweet, X asked his fans to email him "trap beats," something that, considering the source, was not met with positive reinforcement.
DMX has long been considered an integral force in the East Coast hip-hop scene and is reputed for his aggressive sound and unrelenting lyrical flow. However, considering the times have begun to change, with music swaying from its gangsta rap roots to incorporate new experimental elements such as triple time hi-hats and 808s, not everyone appears to be on board with the old-school rapper embracing the sounds of today.
"Looking for trap beats," he wrote in the now-deleted post, along with what we can assume is his manager's email.
Such a four-letter request resulted in Twitter absolutely going in on the rapper, with many saying that it would be in his best interest to stick to his roots and continue to make the music in which he has built his legacy.
Take a look at some of the backlash DMX received after inquiring for trap beats in the tweets below.
