Doja Cat and the American Red Cross Launch Collection Benefiting Californians Affected by Wildfires
To uplift California residents affected by the devastating wildfires, particularly those in the Greater Los Angeles area, Doja Cat and the American Red Cross have partnered for a new merch collection now available for purchase.
On Monday, January 13, the Grammy-winner, an L.A. native, shared on social media that she and the nonprofit humanitarian organization have partnered for an exclusive collection, with all proceeds benefiting those affected by the wildfires. According to CAL Fire, since last Tuesday, January 7, upwards of 12,300 Los Angeles properties have been destroyed by the 135 wildfires–caused by the Santa Ana winds–while at least 40,000 acres have burned. 25 fatalities have also been confirmed. By Tuesday, January 14, 88,000 L.A. residents remained under evacuation orders.
“Please help me and @RedCross support my beautiful state of California,” the “Paint the Town Red” artist wrote on social media. “I teamed up with CA based artist PINI and designed a small collection of hoodies and tees on sale now - 100% of proceeds go to American Red Cross to support the people of California affected by the wildfires.”
The collection ranges from $30 to $60 USD in pricing, including hoodies and t-shirts in shades of gray and blue. In one illustration, Doja is depicted clinging to the California outline while in a dress in the appearance of ocean waves. Another sketch of the artist is seen straddling the state.
Relief efforts for those displaced have been expansive across other nationally recognized brands like Planet Fitness and Airbnb while crowdfunding websites have also been essential for families in need.
