SXSW Just Leveled Up Its Keynote Speaker Game With These Two Special Guests
SXSW has reached its 30th year, and is pulling out all the stops to celebrate its anniversary in 2016.
The festival, for the first time in its organized history, will play host to a sitting president of the United States, and as an extra bonus, the first lady will also be in the house.
The Obama family will already be in town for the annual Democratic National Committee fundraiser, where J. Cole will bless the mic as part of the event taking place on March 11. President Barack Obama's schedule for the day now includes a keynote address at the annual music, film and interactive media event.
The Austin-based festival has arranged for our 44th president to speak during a keynote address, slated to discuss civic engagement with Evan Smith, the editor-in-chief of the Texas Tribune.
Almost a week later, first lady Michelle Obama will be an honored guest, speaking as part of the “Let Girls Learn” initiative, whose aim is to address improving education for girls all around the world, on March 16.
