Vernon Davis Leads NFL Players on Mission Trip to Africa

The tight end for the 49ers leads mission trip to Rwanda and Uganda.

One NFL player is spending his time during the NFL lockout performing big acts of charity.

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis recently went to Uganda and Rwanda for a mission trip with PROS FOR AFRICA. Davis traveled through the countries with his brother, Vontae Davis of the Miami Dolphins, along with a group of other players and provided much needed medical aid to locals.

The two-week trip featured Davis and the other athletes providing food to people, digging wells for clean drinking water and fitting children for hearing aids. They also handed out filtration straws that are used to help people drink water germ-free. In a write-up about the trip, Vernon said it was a life changing experience.

PROS FOR AFRICA was founded in 2009 to focus on African children in need.
