Dwyane Wade Announces Shoe Deal With Li-Ning
Dwyane Wade just finished his contract with Jordan, but the Miami Heat star has already moved on. On Wednesday, Wade announced a deal with Chinese company Li-Ning that will result in his own Wade brand as well as creative input on everything from design to endorsers.
"It was a great nine years, but for me, it was just time to move on," Wade told the AP about his time with the Jordan brand. "I have certain goals that I want to reach and I felt that I had to leave to reach those. So I'm doing things a little differently. That's how I am, in a sense. I'm not necessarily a status-quo type guy."
Wade expects to remain with the company for the rest of his playing career if not longer and hopes to have a finished shoe by the time the Miami Heat open the season on October 30. The Wade brand will include footwear and apparel with a U.S. debut in 2013.
