Watch! Mike Epps Accused of Being Homophobic Because of This Fan Encounter
Mike Epps got into an unfriendly encounter with a fan after his show at the Improv last night, leaving many to believe he's homophobic (an accusation he's caught more than once in the past).
A young man named Norman Freeman filmed himself getting into a fight with Epps after the show, claiming the actor/comedian refused to take a picture with him because he's gay — in spite of the fact that he singled Freeman out for jokes during his set.
Freeman took to Instagram to describe his unsavory encounter.
"Ok so Mike epps spent 10 minutes joking with me while I was in the crowd about me being a man, I thought it was so funny, and being that I do comedy as well I took no offense to it, Until the end of the show I went to take a picture with him and he denied me because of my sexuality! Really???" he writes.
He continues, "So I then approached him and called him out on it! And it got CRAZY!! The violent part is cut out! ....he's a homophobe SMH you should have seen how he looked at me ! I was a big FAN but trust me I'll be bigger than you before you know it!! I had to sneak in another girls picture!!"
So, is this a fan encounter gone wrong, or is Freeman correct in his claims?
This isn't the first time Epps has been accused of homophobia. Back in 2008, he attacked a paparazzo at the airport and called him a "fag." When BET asked him about the incident and being labeled homophobic shortly after, he replied, "I don’t know where that came from. Nothing towards the community — none of that. I might’ve just said it out of anger; it ain’t nothing personally against the community."
Catch up on Epps's recent divorce with BET Breaks, above.
