The Nation of Islam, led by Minister Louis Farrakhan, organized the Million Man March on Washington in 1995. Hundreds of thousands of African-American men converged upon the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on a call to re-commit to their responsibilities to themselves, their families and their communities. In 2011, the organization celebrated the event’s 16-year anniversary with a second rally in Philadelphia.
