Kevin Hart Reveals He Will Host The Next Oscars With Emotional Post
Congratulations are in order for Kevin Hart, as it has been confirmed that he will host the 91st annual Academy Awards.
The comedian, who stands as the fourth African-American to emcee the show, shared the news with his Instagram followers in a lengthy, emotional post.
After detailing that he always believed the opportunity would present itself "when it's suppose to," he announced that he has accepted the role, writing, "the day has finally come."
"I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time," he wrote. "To be able to join the legendary list of host [sic] that have graced that stage is unbelievable."
He went on to thank his mother, friends, family and fans for supporting him throughout his career, leading up to this defining moment, and concluded the post by expressing his gratitude to the Academy for the opportunity.

The three African-American hosts who came before Hart were Richard Pryor (1977, 1983), Whoopi Goldberg (1993, 1995, 1998, 2001) and Chris Rock (2005, 2006).
