Prince Jackson Reveals Dad, Michael Jackson, Held Deep Insecurities Regarding His Appearance
Michael Jackson is one of the most recognizable figures in entertainment, but according to his son, Prince Jackson, the King of Pop harbored a lot of insecurities surrounding his image, specifically, his vitiligo.
Prince opened up about his late father’s personal struggles during a recent appearance on Mike Tyson’s podcast “Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson,” noting that when he was younger, the Grammy Award-winning artist “was always explaining to me, speaking about that.”
“I think it was even in the autopsy report. I think the cause of it is up for speculation, but it's either vitiligo or some form of lupus which contributed to the vitiligo,” the 26-year-old added. "He had a lot of insecurity around, kind of looking blotchy in his appearance. So he wanted to see if he could smooth out his appearance, to help with his security on his physical appearance,” he continued.
Michael was diagnosed with vitiligo, a chronic skin condition that causes the loss of skin pigmentation, in 1986. However, critics often questioned the authenticity of this diagnosis, pointing to the star's extensive history of plastic surgery.
Following his unexpected passing on June 25, 2009, at 50, an autopsy confirmed that Michael suffered from this medical condition.
