Kimberly Elise and Common Among 2012 Black Film Festival Nominees
The 16th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) just unveiled its list of their Grand Jury Prize nominees for this year's festival and it turns out some of Hollywood’s finest have made the cut.
The Best Performance by an Actor (Male or Female) category includes Kimberly Elise, who earned a nod for her role in the film Ties That Bind, and rapper turned actor Common, who received a nomination for his role in LUV. Isaiah Washington was also acknowledged for his role in The Undershepherd.
S. Epatha Merkerson received a documentary nomination for her work behind the camera as co-director of The Contradictions of Fair Hope.
2012 ABFF Grand Jury President Mekhi Phifer will serve as judge and award prizes on the closing day of the festival on June 23.
