Amtrak Conductor Attempted To Force NAACP Executive To Give Up Her Seat
Sherrilyn Ifill says there was no reason she had to vacate where she was sitting.
According to Sherrilyn Ifill, the director-council of the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund, an Amtrak conductor tried to boot her from her seat on a Baltimore-bound train she boarded in Washington D.C. Friday evening (January 17) despite having no discernible reason.
Ifill took to Twitter to describe her experience.
Amtrak did eventually apologize, claiming they couldn’t reach Ifill right away. Via a tweet, they said they would investigate the matter.
But it still left a bad taste in Ifill’s mouth.
Also within her series of tweets, Ifill claimed she suffered “a concussion and broken collarbone” during a Philadelphia derailment of train 188 in 2015.
The Amtrak conductors have not been identified publicly.
