Rihanna Rocks 'American Oxygen' for 2015 NCAA March Madness
Rihanna exhaled this Easter weekend.
The Roc Nation singer delivered a full version of her "American Oxygen" song (the one that's heard during all those commercials for the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association March Madness tournament) live in Indianapolis this Saturday (April 4). And by Sunday, she dropped it on TIDAL. (The new music-streaming service helmed by Jay Z and, ahem, herself.)
"Indianapolis, the f**k is up?!" she asked, before dedicating the song to the city. The audience, some of whom had camped out there since Friday, answered in cheers.
"We sweat for a nickel and a dime/ Turn it into an empire/ Breathe in, this feeling/ American, American oxygen," she sang out. The lyrics, written for that same 9-5 hustla who inspired "FourFiveSeconds," which she also performed along with her recent release, "B***h Better Have My Money." (She had to get "ratchet" for the ones who had been there all day, all night, she said.)
Bad Gal RiRi also dipped into her old catalog, opening her more than 30-minute set with "Rockstar," and adding in "Umbrella," "Live Your Life," "Stay," and stadium favorite "Run This Town."
A flowing American flag was her backdrop.
Although TIDAL is a subscription-based service ($9.99 per month, or $19.99 per month for premium), "American Oxygen" is free for all who sign up for a 30-day trial.
The 2015 NCAA March Madness continues tonight with Wisconsin (who shut down Kentucky 71-64) and Duke (who beat Michigan St. 81-61).
