2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 Times NAACP Nominees Chloe X Halle Empowered Us Through Their Music
The R&B sister duo Chloe and Halle have taken a break to pursue other avenues in the entertainment industry. Still, the work they’ve laid out thus far has solidified their spot in the music department.
While 2020 brought on the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic that had us stashed away in our homes, the sisters provided hit after hit songs that helped many of us weather the storm of pure boredom.
Their cover of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind” earned the duo a nomination at the 53rd Annual NAACP Image Awards for “Outstanding Duo or Group.” The ceremony, which honors outstanding performances in film, television, theater, music, and literature, will take place on Saturday, February 26, hosted by Anthony Anderson. Before we can celebrate the best and brightest in Hollywood, check out five times Chloe and Halle’s music empowered us.
“Ungodly Hour”
The dynamic duo ushered in a new chapter with their hit instant classic “Ungodly Hour.” Their creativity was tested as artists were forced to find new ways to connect to their fans and put out content while under strict stay-at-home restrictions. The sisters succeeded.
“Everywhere”
The duo’s pen and producing skills take center stage in this trap-inspired track as they use “money” as a metaphor to manifest the most essential things in life, such as love, happiness, and success. The song has a highly catchy hook, making it one of many stand-out tracks on the project.
“Do It”
The lead single off their second studio album, Ungodly Hour. The single, co-written by Victoria Monét, Vincent van den Ende and Scott Storch, earned them a Grammy nomination for “Best R&B Song.”

“The Kids Are Alright”
Chloe takes on the sole duty of producing this record off their debut studio album of the same name, The Kids Are Alright. The song reassures this new generation has what it take to work for what they want and have fun while they’re at it.
“Forgive Me”
Sometimes we could use a little reminder of how powerful we are. Chloe and Halle do precisely just that as they ditch the good girl act for an anti-f-ck boy anthem that reminds us who we are and encourages us to take back our power.
