A couple of Burger King employees got royally punked last week, and their naivete has caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages to two of the fast food chain's locales.
A prank caller targeted Burger King restaurants in both Minnesota and Oklahoma by posing as the local fire department and telling the employees to smash the restaurant's windows out to avoid a deadly explosion.

The prank caller called one BK in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Thursday and then another in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, on Friday to alert the employees of dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide. The caller then encouraged the employees to bash out the restaurant's windows in order to avoid asphyxiation.

Onlookers in both locations watched in shock as they saw the Burger King employees running around the outside of the establishment, kicking, and swinging chairs at the windows until they shattered.

After following the orders, the employees called the fire department asking them to reassess the situation, but — of course — the fire department had no idea what they were talking about.

When responding officers actually arrived on the scene, they found no trace of a gas leak, just an estimated $10,000 worth of damage.

Thomas Larman, spokesman for the Shawnee FD told KSTP, "The employees stated that a person called them and told them there were high levels of carbon monoxide in their building, and they needed to break out all their windows."

Officials have yet to pin the prank call on anyone, as the number was blocked.
