Kappa Fraternity Member's Same-Sex Wedding Video Goes Viral
A Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity member's wedding video has gone viral and it's not all for congratulatory reasons. The same-sex marriage has sparked criticism and homophobic reactions and some skepticism about the predominantly African-American fraternity.
While the video of the beautiful ceremony attracted many well-wishers, other commenters were less tolerant about the union.
Links to the video were spread over Twitter where "Kappa" and "Kappa gay wedding" quickly became trending topics.
TheGrio writes:
"The video, entitled 'Robert + Nathanael 9.8.12' has gotten 99,719 views, and has attracted over 1,400 'likes' and just 65 'dislikes.' But some of those who 'disliked' the images in the video, which consisted of a series of crisp photographic stills depicting the elaborate outdoor ceremony at the Mansion at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort in Lexington, Kentucky, were ugly.
'Well geez, most of the comments support this union on the basis that they are in love, so whats wrong with me and my sister getting married if we are in love too?' wrote one commenter, Lenny Sharke.
Another wrote: 'Ugh! I'm telling you we (strong, steadfast Christians) are a minority.'
Clutch Magazine flagged other negative comments on Twitter, where 'Kappa gay wedding' became a trending topic over the last 24 hours…"
