Peyton Manning's Huge Announcement Comes at the Perfect Time

The Super Bowl champ is bowing out of the NFL.

Peyton Manning's memorable Super Bowl win this year has been marred by resurfaced allegations of sexual assault and HGH abuse. Rather than let his name and reputation get dragged through the mud with hearings and investigations, the Denver Broncos quarterback is choosing this moment to announce his retirement from the NFL.

The league veteran dropped the big announcement on Sunday, and the Broncos were quick to congratulate him on his “magnificent 18-year NFL career" on the official team Twitter account:

Manning will officially retire at a news conference Monday, surrounded by the team's head coach, owner, and former Broncos QB John Elway.

On and off the field, Manning has been known as one of the most positive faces of the NFL. Recently, however, he has come under fired following a HGH allegation, as well as the resurfacing of a sexual assault case he underwent while he was a student at University of Tennessee.

Still, Manning will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, holding a number of the most prestigious passing records. He will also have the opportunity to do what most professional athletes only dream of, ride of into the sunset as a league champion.
