Haiti has postponed the announcement of preliminary results of their presidential election because of alleged voter fraud.

Gaillot Dorsinvil, president of Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council, said that officials found a "high level" of fraud and irregularities at the tabulation center in the capital city of Port-au-Prince, according to The Associated Press. As a result, lawyers are now adopting "more stringent verification measures," which will result in a delay in counting. He did not describe the alleged problems.

The preliminary results are now expected to be announced on April 4 instead of March 31, the originally scheduled date.

Voters went to the polls on March 20 to choose between two candidates--Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly, a 50-year-old musician who has never held public office, and former first lady and senator Mirlande Manigat, 70.

Final results are due April 16.
