Chicago PD Investigates Rick Ross Death Threats
Rick Ross doesn't want to let recent gang threats hold him back, but police are taking the matter very seriously. According to TMZ, the Chicago PD has begun an investigation into death threats against the Bawse made by the notorious street gang the Gangster Disciples.
The police are looking into a viral video released by members of the gang — which was founded in Chicago — in which the threats against the lives of both Ross and his Maybach Music Group crew are made.
The Gangster Disciples have been linked to an ongoing gang war in Chicago. Eighteen-year-old Chicago rapper Lil JoJo, who was gunned down in September, is believed to have been affiliated with the gang.
Ross recently canceled several dates on his tour amid reports of the threats, leading many to speculate that he was taking precautions against potential violence. But in an interview on Monday, he said the cancellations were due to a dispute with his tour promoter and not gang threats. The MMG founder even boasted of recent incident-free visits to Chicago.
"If I go to Chicago to handle my business like I did, I have no problem goin' to North Carolina or South Carolina where the ladies are brown skin, brown eyes, they got nice curls and they make the best apple pie," he said, referring to canceled North Carolina tour dates. "So don't ever get it twisted, Ricky Rozay is a boss."
