Tessa Thompson Wins Gotham Award for Breakthrough Actor
Dear White People is sure to get a lot of attention this awards season, and the film is already off to a solid start. Tessa Thompson won a Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor for her leading role in the movie.
The Justin Simien-directed film is also up for a handful of Independent Spirit Awards, and that's just the start of the film's awards season ride.
Thompson will next be seen in Ava DuVernay's Selma. If critics are correct in assuming that the actress has a bright future in Hollywood, we'll be seeing a lot more of her on the big screen.
