Vanessa Williams is gushing over becoming a grandma! In case you haven’t gotten the memo, the actress’ daughter Jillian Hervey (aka LION BABE) recently welcomed her first child with her music beau Lucas Goodman. Below, see how Vanessa shared the exciting news and ultimately welcomed her daughter into the wonderful world of motherhood.

“So proud to welcome my beautiful daughter @lionbabe into the wonderful, challenging and most rewarding role in life…motherhood,” Vanessa captioned this adorable Instagram photo showing herself happily caressing her daughter’s baby bump. 

The proud mom (and first-time grandma) went on to reveal how she plans to stay in her daughter’s corner, especially as she adjusts to her new role as a mom. “I’m always here to support, advise and babysit at any moment,” she continued.

Vanessa went on to praise new dad Lucas for being by her daughter’s side during the pregnancy, before commending his attentiveness. 

ICYMI: After keeping their pregnancy quiet for the entire nine months, Lucas and Jillian welcomed a baby boy in December. The first-time parents named their son, Sunny Rise Goodman. In celebration of their new addition, the pair recently posted behind-the-scenes footage from their creative maternity shoot. Check out the heartwarming video below.

“Pregnancy for me was a huge reset,” Jillian told Essence in January about her pregnancy experience. “It’s still hard to describe because I haven’t had a moment to really process. Since the moment I discovered it was happening, I have been birthing new thoughts, feelings, intentions and parts of myself. At first, I was super anxious and overwhelmed, but I quickly shifted into embracing my path and surrendering to it.”

She continued, “Being pregnant allowed me to reflect on appreciating the life I have lived, and it gave me a whole new perspective on how I want to move through the world. I knew I needed to make sure I did my best to create a calm, loving environment for my baby to grow.”

According to the new mom, the decision to keep their pregnancy journey private was a family decision. “My personal life, like my creative life is sacred, but coming from the upbringing I have had, I never wanted to overshare,” she explained. “Lucas and I have always valued our privacy and up until this point have never spoken of our relationship.”

We recognize the importance of privacy, especially when you're expecting a child.
