Man Arrested For Fatally Shooting Virginian-Pilot Reporter
A man has been arrested for a shooting that claimed the lives of two 25-year-olds, including a local reporter.
According to WRIC, 24-year-old Antoine Legrande Jr.was arrested on May 17 by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Norfolk Police Department’s Special Operations Team. He was reportedly armed but arrested without incident. Legrande was charged with three counts of second-degree murder, two counts of malicious wounding and firearms charges.
On March 19, an altercation in Norfolk, Va. reportedly occurred over someone spilling a beverage. Marquel Andrews, 24, and Devon Harris, 25, were shot but survived. Sierra Jenkins, 25, a Virginian-Pilot reporter, was fatally shot.
At the time of the shooting, Jenkins’ father, Maurice Jenkins, said his daughter started reporting breaking news with the Virginian-Pilot before moving to the education desk. She previously worked as an intern at Atlanta Magazine and CNN, before joining the Pilot in December 2020. She recently celebrated her 25th birthday on March 13 and was the oldest of three siblings.
Norfolk City Manager Chip Filer said in a statement, “Today’s announcement is an important first step in providing justice for the families of these three innocent victims.”

He continued, “I want to thank our men and women in NPD for their tireless investigative work. Let these arrests show that if you commit crimes in Norfolk, you will be held accountable. If you think you will be able to get away with committing crimes in our city, you are mistaken. We will find you and you will be arrested.”
Norfolk Police Chief Michael Goldsmith also added, “Countless hours of interviews and forensic investigation went into this case, to include following up on multiple tips originating from our community members. I am very proud of Norfolk’s detectives and their determination to see justice prevail for the victims and their families.”
