White Supremacist Group Says School Shooting Suspect Nikolas Cruz Participated In Their Paramilitary Training Exercises
A member of a Florida white supremacist group has come forward and confirmed that Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz was a member of the militant group.
In a conversation with the Anti-Defamation League on Thursday, a spokesperson for the white supremacist group Republic of Florida (ROF) said Cruz gained access to the group and was “brought up” by another member.
Jordan Jereb, who is believed to be the leader of ROF, said Cruz had participated in one or more ROF paramilitary style training exercises and would carpool with other ROF members from south Florida.
The white supremacist group borrows paramilitary concepts from the anti-government extremist militia movement. Pictures from their group show they have military style uniforms and look as if they are soldiers at boot camp.
Jereb added that ROF had not ordered or wanted Cruz to do anything like the school shooting.
Although the ROF allegedly never encouraged Cruz's actions, the group is considered to be violent
This is the second school shooting by a white supremacist in the past two months
