This week’s The Breakfast Club line up starts fresh off the heels of the BET Awards 2023. On Monday, DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God discussed the awards and the epic salute to Busta Rhymes, who won a lifetime achievement award.

“Lifetime achievement awards like that, for a great artist like Busta Rhymes, could only happen on a platform like BET. Because BET is culture and has historically been culture, and they understand the importance of somebody like a Busta Rhymes, and the significance of somebody like a Busta Rhymes,” explains Charlamagne. “I can see no other awards show doing that for Bussa Bus, even though it’s long overdue for him to get his flowers in that way.”

Let’s fast forward to Hump Day when the guys congratulate Angela Bassett for her upcoming award of an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards, coming up in November. Once again, Charlamagne made a good point -- the folks at the Oscars should acknowledge that they should have long given Bassett an Oscar.
