What was thought to be a case of "mistaken identity" may really have been a hoax that ended with Suge Knight's hands in the air as LAPD officers pointed firearms at him Friday, Nov. 29. Cops pulled over Knight, 47, believing he fit the description of an assault suspect, reports TMZ. 

The ex-Death Row Records mogul was said to be co-operative with authorities and agreed to go to a police station and prove his identity. Police now think the incident was a practical joke, but Knight isn't planning on forgiving the mix up. He's apparently upset with the department, and considering suing.

Knight's last run-in with cops was in September, when he was arrested for a traffic violation. The Compton native was pulled over at around 12:30 a.m. near Beverly Hills, Calif. and taken into custody after a search of his name returned a misdemeanor warrant, stemming from a missed court date in February. He was booked and released from jail a few hours later.

Aside from traffic-related incidents, Knight has been busted for several offenses over the last decade including suspicion of drug possession and assault after a Las Vegas arrest in 2008. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery in exchange for the dismissal of double felony drug charges and a single coercion charge.

He earned another Sin City arrest in 2012, for marijuana possession and probation violation.
