Aaron Rodgers Shades Russell Wilson: 'God Was Packers Fan Tonight'
You don't need to be a football fan to know that Russell Wilson is one of the most spiritual athletes around.
During this past offseason, Seattle Seahawks' star quarterback even used his faith as a reason to abstain from having sex with girlfriend Ciara.
Well, it seems as if rival quarterback Aaron Rodgers used a victory over Wilson to throw some shade. Following the Green Bay Packers' 27-17 win over the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, Rodgers told ESPN: "And then getting help from God. I think God was a Packers fan tonight, so he was taking care of us."
The comment seemed to be an outright dig at Wilson, especially considering that Rodgers was singing a different tune when his Packers lost to the Seahawks in January's NFC title game.
"I don't think God cares a whole lot about the outcome," Rodgers told an ESPN Milwaukee radio show after that defeat. "He cares about the people involved, but I don't think he's a big football fan."
During Super Bowl media day, Wilson told reporters: "I think God cares about football. I think God cares about everything he created."
Hmm...if the Packers and Seahawks are going to meet in the playoffs again, Rodgers' jab at Wilson has added fuel to their rivalry.
