Report: Kanye West Slams Pink and Taylor Swift in Leaked Recording
Kanye West's epic snatch and rant at the 2009 MTV Video Music awards has come back to haunt him. Gawker.com obtained an old conversation recorded after the infamously awkward moment when 'Ye interrupted Taylor Swft's acceptance speeech for Best Female Video and announced that Beyoncé should have won the category.
Apparently, West had more to get off his chest once he made it to dinner later that night. For starters, he pointed out the bright side of the Swift debacle. "You know, it's like, I was happy to be in a situation where people couldn't say, oh, I was trying to promote my own song."
Then he went into praising the greatness that is Kanye West. "I'm pushing the envelope! I wrote my f---in 'Run This Town' verse for a f----in' month! When I heard Eminem's verse on the Drake s---, I went back and rewrote my s--- for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I f---in' care! You know what I'm saying? And that's what I'm saying. Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé."
A woman's voice breaks in and asks the burning question, "Why are you so angry?" to which he responds with a heartfelt comment about his mother, the late Dr. Donda West. "My mother died for this fame s---! I move to f---in' Hollywood chasing this s---. My mother died because of this s---."
In less than two minutes the G.O.O.D. Music mastermind managed to further alienate himself from industry peers by throwing Pink (who had choice words for him after the Swift slight) in the fight. According to Yeezy, Pink shouldn't have even been asked to perform on the awards show. Why? Because no one knows her. "It ain't no love. What the f--- was Pink performing? Don't nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f--- Pink perform two songs and I didn't even get asked to perform 'Heartless.' 'Heartless' is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don't know that Pink song!"
There was at least one person blessed with love from the Chi-town MC. Eminem's win for Best Rap Video made West "so happy."
Nobody knows who leaked the tape, but the timing is interesting since MTV recently announced nominees for the 2013 ceremony, and Swift grabbed two nods. Ironically, the country star referenced West in a tweet yesterday (July 17) writing, "If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time."
Provided that she wins a Moonman, the 22-year-old may not have to worry about being interrupted because West hasn't confirmed that he'll be in attendance.
