De La Soul Calls For Trump’s Removal From Office In New Single
If there’s one front that most of the rap community has stood united on, it’s the mutually-shared dislike of Donald Trump. Since the president assumed the Oval Office almost four years ago, many hip hop luminaries have been vocal in their rebuke of Trump and his administration.
The hip hop trio rallied together with fellow hip hop luminaries Styles P, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, Mysonne and Chuck D for the occasion. Clocking in at five and half minutes, the track opens with a brief montage of Trump’s speeches intercut with an angry chorus of voices yelling for him to “shut up.”
Over a Supa Dave West-produced instrumental track wastes no time taking aim at Trump. The crew trade verses as they blast the virulent rhetoric that the president has spewed over the years that has sown discord, misinformation and racism.
The trio hopes the track will give wavering citizens the push to vote in the crucial election. “When it comes to this president and his administration, we need to exercise our right to vote and REMOVE him from office,” Pos stated in a press release.
The track arrives as De La Soul is currently recording their highly-anticipated new album with DJ Premier and Pete Rock. This will mark their follow-up to 2016’s and the Anonymous Nobody.
