Three Explosions Kill Dozens in Brussels

Airport, subway targeted in suspected terrorist attacks.

At least 31 people have been killed and 130 more injured after three explosions went off in Brussels. Two of the explosions occurred in the international airport and a third at a subway station close to the headquarters of the European Union.

While officially Prime Minister Charles Michel of Belgium said there was no information about whether the attacks were related to last week's arrest of the lone surviving perpetrator of the Paris attacks, which killed 130 last year, the timing of the Brussels attacks can't be ignored.
"We were fearing terrorist attacks and that has now happened,” Michel said.
What's more, in addition to being the home of European Union government, Brussels has become a focus of counter-terrorism investigations on the recruitment of Islamic State jihadists since the Paris attacks.
So far, however, nobody has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
